I am a wood turner, I transform blocks of wood using a lathe to create bowls, vases and other pieces. I work with local and exotic woods and am mostly self taught. As a member of the Quinte Wood Turners Guilde, American Association of Wood Turners, Arts Quinte West as well as several online forms that include members from all over the world it gives me several communities of turners to learn and share knowledge with as I advance and learn new techniques.
“My favorite piece is my next one” As the true enjoyment for me comes in the creation of each piece and dealing with the uncertainty of how it will “turn” out…Pun intended. My work can be found in Scotland, Switzerland, Greece, Mexico, Iran, United States, and all across Canada. Custom work I have done includes a gavel, pen and soundboard for Mayor of Quinte West, Jim Harrison six years ago. I also turned a bowl from a tree donated by the Royal Family to CFB Trenton in 1953. When the tree died in 2016 I obtained some of the dead wood and made a bowl I gifted back to the commander of CFB as a momento of the tree, it is now displayed at the base pub with other momentos.
